While Western Christians celebrate St Valentine, throughout various wine regions in Serbia wine festivals are held on February 14th to commemorate St. Trifun, wine producer’s patron saint. Romantic Subotica built in Art Nouveau style predominantly, together with Palic Lake Resort with its famous vineyards wright on the Hungarian border combines best of both Western and Eastern tradition. Perfect ambience for those who wish to celebrate love and wine.
Day 1 (14.2.2017.)
Early morning departure from Belgrade and Subotica sightseeing wright upon arrival. Town concentrates around four major squares. Synagogue Square features Subotica Synagogue as the center of town’s Jewish community, while Republic and Freedom squares are located on different sides of fabulous Subotica City Hall. “Korzo” or town’s promenade connects City Hall and Ferenz Rajhl Square dominated by Ferenz Rajhl’s fairytale like, Art Nouveau masterpiece – Rajhl’s Palace. Free time and optional City Hall Tour.
Departure towards Palic Lake is shortly afterwards followed by orientation walk with the emphasis on Art Nouveau villas built in beautiful Palic Park, wright by the lake. Free time and optional visit to a local winery, where famous wines from grapes grown on Palic sands can be tasted. Optional dinner can also be organized in authentic Salas restaurant where famous Hungarian goulash and other local specialties can be enjoyed while listening to “tamburica” music. Arrival in Belgrade is planned for late evening hours.
