Since then it has become one of the most important cultural events in Belgrade with a concept that revolves around the best films of the season.
This annual film review has therefore, attracted film giants such as: Milos Forman, Theo Angelopoulos, Bernardo Bertolucci, , Ken Russel, Wim Wenders, Marcello Mastroianni, Harvey Keitel, Sophia Loren, Robert de Niro, Johnny Depp, Catherine Deneuve, Volker Schlondorff, David Cronenberg …
Since the begining, FEST has always had its main program, along with a few accompanying ones, whose quality often exceeded the expectations put in the name „accompanying”. Roughly four million visitors and almost 4000 relevant international films, which have had their Yugoslav/Serbian and often regional premiere on the Festival have made FEST, aruably the biggest of its kind in the regio.
For the 45th time in row, from February 24th until March 5th FEST will be held on various locations throughout Belgrade. Kusturica’s “On the Milky Way” will open the event with Monica Bellucci and Kusturica himself starring the film. “Manchester by the Sea”, “Queen of Spain”, “Silence”, “Jackie”, “Paterson”, “Elle” and many other films will also take part in this year’s program.
